ABOUT BAMBI A'LYNN INTERIOR DESIGN

About

Bambi A'Lynn Bratton photoBambi A’Lynn Bratton is an interior designer who lives in Austin and works all over the great state of Texas. She focuses on the residential market, helping homeowners turn dreams into reality. Bambi believes that she has done her job when people say that they’d rather be at home than anywhere else. “There is so much out there,” she says. “I work hard to make a variety of things mix well together. It would be a shame to be too limited in the spaces we create.”

Experience

Sendero hallway photoBambi A’Lynn Bratton holds a bachelor’s of science degree in interior design from Baylor University. Before starting her own business 12 years ago, Bambi worked for David Corley Interior Design-ASID and Jan Showers & Associates-ASID. Her education and professional experience have influenced her approach as has the world around her. Bambi is constantly exploring. “I am forever in awe of life’s beauty and its moments,” she says. “I really soak it all in—and I feel this is reflected in the designs I create for my clients. From classic books, ballroom gown fabric, and wildflowers to international fashion, period movies, and Audrey Hepburn … I draw on all of this for inspiration.”

Design Philosophy

Bambi A'Lynn Bratton photoTo me, there is no right or wrong,” says Bambi A’Lynn Bratton. “Really, it’s more about creating spaces that express my clients’ individual personalities. Everyone wants to live in a home that reflects his or her personal tastes. They want to feel comfortable in their space—and they want to show it off. I listen, observe, and absorb. Then I offer suggestions that I think will be a good fit with their personality. I work hard to define their style and bring it all together.”

SERVICES

Decorating

“There’s nothing more fulfilling than working with a client to turn their home into their sanctuary,” says Bambi A’Lynn Bratton. “And everyone’s vision is different, which provides me with endless opportunities to explore and be creative.” Bambi discusses concepts and needs with clients and then lets her imagination go. From starting with a clean slate and purchasing furniture, rugs, window coverings, and accessories to working with existing furniture and going through a home to determine what needs to go and what needs to be kept, Bambi uses her expertise to pull it all together.

New Construction/Remodeling

“The feel of a house begins with the hard finishes, which encompasses everything from plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, countertops, and molding to flooring, tile, fireplace design, and paint colors,” says Bambi A’Lynn Bratton. “A good design aesthetic begins with the basics, things many people might not notice right away but that exude a feeling of thoughtfulness.” Whether clients are remodeling a home or purchasing a new one, Bambi works with them so that their ideas and sense of home—from the appliances to the finish selections—become a reality.

Consultation

Bambi A’Lynn Bratton understands the needs of her clients and provides them with suggestions and ideas to enhance their living environment. “A little direction and guidance can make all the difference,” she says. Using her keen eye and design smarts, Bambi consults with clients on everything from furniture arrangements and paint colors to window treatments and accessories. “I enjoy helping people realize their sense of style,” she says. “A few adjustments—sometimes something as simple as a new chair or a piece of artwork—can transform a space.”

I am in awe of the couture details of my wedding dress. The designer used modernized versions of pleats, tucks and gathers in champagne silk satin. I draw on such a creation for inspiration when designing curtains for a luxurious bath, a romantic bedroom or a formal living room.

PROJECTS

How I adore black on white graphic patterns as they transform exquisite fabrics. Black embroidered florals on white remind me of Audrey Hepburn’s gown in the movie Sabrina…oh, how I would love to wear that dress for a day! In the right room, and with the right design, black and white can be utterly breathtaking.

ROOMS

As I think about the seasons of spring and summer, I get inspired by all of those splashes of color…colors that rest against a neutral ground. And as I design a room, this might lead me to include an azalea-pink patterned pillow or grass green moss balls…a lemon yellow lamp or a turquoise glass bowl.

Round Top Wonder

The beginning of each spring and fall, I anticipate the Round Top Antiques Fair. As I gather my clients’ shopping lists, my hope is to find at least one treasure for each client.  Wrapping my mind around all I am in search of, those first few hours of the hunt are truly exhilarating.   That first day, if I find one or two items that truly fit the image in my head, I consider it a blessing.  With each day, as I delve more into each dealer’s collectibles, more acquisitions reveal themselves.  Evenings are spent perusing the days’ findings; emailing clients photos, dimensions,  and information about the pieces found. Truly, it is a time to soak in new ideas, be inspired, and let a project evolve. Each morning I look forward to the comments that will tell me where to go that day. I love roaming the shows over and over (Marburger being my all time favorite for years) – I enjoy the whirl of the activity!  (more…)
